I greatly enjoyed the PowerPoint
Interaction assignment because there is so much that you can do with it! I had
always wondered how teachers made games such as Jeopardy and I did not realize it
was a just a formula of hyperlinks. I think I enjoyed this assignment because
it is closely related to Excel. I did not like the research part of the
assignment even though it was obviously necessary I just didn’t enjoy it. In the
future I plan on always remembering to look if there is an online template for
something. I hope to take advantage massive variety of resources
available to teachers online.
I enjoyed the blogs
on digital natives because I felt as if everyone in the class was on the same
page. No one seemed to remember a time without technology and felt that they
had a divide with older educators that did. I am interested to see how this
effects the future of the classroom. I also enjoyed the blogs on future
technologies because it was so cool to hear about all the technologies and how
other students thought they would useful. Some technologies that I thought were
particularly cool was the Oculus Rift virtual reality
helmet and Sphero
Another technology
related skill at I would have been interested in learning is Videoconferencing
skills. Being able to conduct interactive lessons online could be one of the
new upcoming structures of classes. I think that these skills would be beneficial
because you can reach any student at any time from almost anywhere. One program
in particular that I would like to try is Skype for Business. It allows to
connect up to 250 people for only $2.00 per person. It creates an online
meeting place which could easily be turned into a classroom. http://www.skype.com/en/business/
The best way to
master a program is through trial and error. Therefore, I think that the most
effective way to learn how to use technology is to spend the time to play
around with the programs. My future technology goal is to use programs such as Microsoft
Word, PowerPoint, and Edmodo properly and utilize all of the functions. I will complete
this goal by not only practicing with the programs but also using the internet
to see how other educators have succeed in the past.
I like your comment about trial-and-error. I would like to add two more elements: necessity (the mother of all invention), and Google. If you have a tech problem, Google or YouTube will show you how to solve it. I love the internet!
